GPOYW with mi abuelita. My grandma is the cutest and sweetest woman you’ll ever meet.

My grandmother’s face

I could look
at your face
all day.

It is filled with
curious lines
full of laughter
and sorrows
and mysteries
I’ll never unravel.

You have
so much
in your 83 years.

Lost children,

have all weathered
the face
that is so precious
to me.
They are a constant
reminder for you
of this hard life.

You joke
about some day
getting a facelift.

But I tell you
This is the face
of love,
of life,
and of joy,
despite the tears.

I would be so lucky
to have a face
as lovely as yours.

Thanksgiving in Maryland

For this Thanksgiving, I decided to visit family in Maryland and had a lovely time. As much as I love New York City, it’s nice to get out of the hustle and bustle. It was nice to be around family too.

Here’s the night’s guest of honor!

Me, looking nerdy chic. Photo courtesy of my cousin Rakel.

Back to the city tomorrow and I’m a bit bummed to get back to work. Sigh. How was everyone’s Thanksgiving??

Yesterday evening I went to Central Park with Kathy and her friend Michelle to see the New York Philharmonic play a special concert. It was so lovely and not that hot even though the entire day was a scorcher. It was packed with people too but nobody seemed to get in each other’s way. The music was wonderful as well, with the philharmonic playing selections from Carmen as well as pieces by Dvorak and Tchaikovsky. Overall a nice night.

A bit of good news!

My photo for the Film Society of Lincoln Center has been picked up in various film news publications. So far it’s been used in Movieline, Indiewire (a huge thrill for me since I’m an avid reader of the mag) and Gothamist. This is the first time that any of my event photos have been used outside of the Film Society website, so I’m very excited! Definitely justifies me sprucing up my lens collection by buying a few for myself for Christmas!
