Ruby Sparks Q&A at the Film Society of Lincoln Center with directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris (Little Miss Sunshine) and stars Paul Dano and Zoe Kazan (who also wrote the script).

So as part of my new freelance photography gig at the Film Society I get to take awesome photos of the cool events they have. Tonight I saw a special preview of Ruby Sparks, this quirky film about a writer (Dano) who manages to anthropomorphize the character he is writing about, Ruby (Kazan).

I really enjoyed the film! So far one of my favorite indies of the summer. It was familiar yet not overtly twee. It had that same spark that Little Miss Sunshine had. Dano and Kazan have such great chemistry together—and Dano himself has fantastic comedic timing. What a great script by Kazan too: whimsical yet poignant. It really gets to the heart of what it means to love a person. I’d be eager to see what else Kazan has up her sleeve.

Afterwards, I briefly talked to Paul (we have a mutual friend, my favorite German, Jules!!) and he’s such a nice guy!

Any of you planning on seeing the film? If you haven’t heard about it, check out the trailer.
